The incident came to light in the morning when officials from the bank reached the ATM kiosk to deposit cash. The officials lodged a complaint with the police in the evening after assessing the amount that was stolen with the machine. A case of theft was registered against four to five unidentified men.
The police said the suspects used a gas cutter to steal the machine. “The suspects cut the nut bolts of the machine’s pedestal to pull it out. They may have used a pickup truck to flee,” an officer said.
The kiosk had CCTV cameras but no security guard. “The suspects cut off the cables of the surveillance cameras before stealing the machine. We have launched a manhunt for the suspects,” the officer added.
