Of total 18.89 lakh, 94.72% have voter I-cards in Chandrapur | Nagpur News


Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency has witnessed an increase of 1.71 lakh voters in the last five years since 2014. There were 17.18 lakh registered voters in Chandrapur during the last Lok Sabha polls, the number has now risen to 18.89 lakh. Of these, 17.90 lakh (94.72%) have been issued photo voter I-cards.

Addressing a press conference, collector and district election officer, Kunal Khemnar, said that as per Election Commission guidelines, the poll expenditure limit has been fixed at Rs70 lakh and each candidate will have to submit the details of his expenditure every three days.

He informed that the EC has floated an app — cVIGIL — for citizens, which can be used to file direct complaint with the Election Commission about violation of model code of conduct. All the citizens have to do is to click the photo or shoot a video of the violation and upload it on the app. The officials of the concerned constituency will be bound to reply to the complaint within 100 minutes of filing the complaint, he said.

Apart from this, the district administration has floated a toll free helpline number 1590 for voters, where they can call and verify their name in the voter list. Khemnar informed that as per the directives of the Election Commission, district administration will be setting up two all-women polling booths in every assembly constituency for the upcoming elections.

Every candidate will have to give details of his criminal record along with the nomination papers and political parties will have to publicize these criminal details, collector said.
