Natrajan hits out at BJP candidate | Coimbatore News

As Coimbatore CPM candidate PR Natrajan campaigned through the narrow streets of Puliyakulam, K Chellama, 60, a daily wage labourer, stopped her work and joined the campaign. Struggling to cope up with others, she strode ahead despite having difficulties in walking. “I have been working with the party for decades now. If I don’t campaign for the candidate, who will campaign for him,” she said.

While canvassing for votes on the last day of campaigning on Tuesday, Natrajan hit out at BJP candidate CP Radhakrishnan for his contradictory statements on Goods and Service Tax(GST)

Natrajan said, “It is the same candidate who had earlier promised to reduce the GST for job orders from 18% to 5% and now he is saying that no damage is done by GST. His statements are highly contradictory. In Coimbatore alone, over 50,000 MSMEs are affected because of GST.”

Reiterating the impact of demonetization and GST on the common people, he sought the public to vote for him to bring an end to the BJP government.

Later, he participated in a public meeting at Town Hall.

Speaking at the meeting, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said, “The election is not just going to bring a change at the centre but also in the state. The DMK alliance would win in the parliamentary election with a huge difference. At the same time, they would also win the by-election in 22 assembly constituencies and Stalin would become the chief minister of the state.”
