GURUGRAM: Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has moved all its files online, using the E-office software.
The move is an attempt to cut down on use of paper and bring efficiency in the corporation’s internal processes.
According to the MCG officials, starting from April 1, this year, all files are being processed online.
As of now, the corporation has digitised 75,400 files, out of which 43,017 files have already been processed.
“We have provided IDs and passwords to all our officials to access the files online. All the paperwork has now moved online, which will substantially increase accountability and transparency in processes,” said MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav.
The online process will also make it easier for officials to track progress on files. In case an official has some remarks on a particular project, the same has to be updated online. These will be available for other officials to view.
Even letters and grievances marked to the MCG commissioner will have to be uploaded online.
“If someone submits a written application, it will be scanned and uploaded online before it is marked to the commissioner,” said an MCG official.
The process of moving files online started some months ago and after a trial in March, the process was officially rolled out in April.
The central government has awarded MCG for its digital initiatives. The award was announced at an event organised by the ministry of electronics and information technology.
