These results were earlier withheld as the students had taken admission in unaffiliated colleges. The cleared results are of those of students who took admissions in colleges located in Patna and Nalanda district, now part of Pataliputra University. Pataliputra University, it may be recalled was established in March’2018, and as such students of sessions 2015-18, 2016-19 and 2017-20 will continue to appear in exams conducted by the parent MU. PPU will conduct exam of students admitted in the session 2018-21 onwards.
During scrutiny in 2017, it was found that no less than 109 colleges located in seven districts— Gaya, Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Aurangabad and Arwal—were functioning in an illegal manner without obtaining the mandatory affiliation from the state government.
As affected students and college management approached the Patna high court, the HC, initially did not give any relief. Subsequently, the students were allowed to appear at the exam held in December’2018 but result publication was stayed by the court till the state government granted affiliation to such colleges.
Subsequently, five of 109 colleges being run without proper affiliation were granted one time affiliation only for the session 2015-18 as a special case.
Another 17 colleges were granted affiliation at different dates in March’2019. According to the MU registrar Col Pranav Kumar, it was a one time relief only for session 2015-18. Of the 17 colleges granted one time affiliation by the government for session 2015-18, seven colleges are located in Patna and Nalanda district, now part of Pataliputra University.
Four colleges including Sir Ganesh Dutt Memorial College are located in Patna district. The three colleges of Nalanda district includes RPS College, Harnaut.
Results of the remaining 87 colleges running without proper affiliation are still withheld. The number of students appearing from these 87 colleges is more than 67,000. Asked about the fate of the remaining 67,000 examinees, MU PRO Prof SNP Deen said, “Results of all these examinees are ready. But the publication has been withheld due to non-affiliation.”
Results of the remaining examinees would be published as and when the state government grants affiliation. “The senate can only recommend affiliation. The final decision has to be taken by the state government,” said the university PRO.
