KSOU has met all UGC requirements, says VC | Mangaluru News

Mangaluru: Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) vice-chancellor Prof D Shivalingaiah has urged students not to be apprehensive over seeking admissions as all their courses have got legal status and have met all the requirements of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
He said they are expecting over 50,000 students to take admissions in KSOU for the present year. The UGC has granted recognition to KSOU in accordance with its 2017 regulations. At present, UGC has permitted to offer 31 in-house non-technical programmes. Accordingly, admissions were started during the July 2018 cycle for various programmes, and approximately 12,000 students were admitted. Subsequently, admissions were done for BEd and MBA programmes during the January 2019 cycle.
At present, notification has been issued for undergraduate programmes like BA, BCom, BLib.ISC, MA-Kannada ,English, Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, history, economics, political science, public administration, sociology, ancient history and archaeology and journalism and mass communication. MCom, MBA, MSC- biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, clinical nutrition and dietetics, environmental science, computer science, geography, information science, mathematics, microbiology, physics, psychology and MLib.ISC. Postgraduate diploma courses in English, communicative English, journalism and mass communication, Kuvempu sahitya, business law, human resources, management, financial management, business administration, marketing management, Ambedkar studies, nutrition and dietetics, information science, computer application. Diploma courses in Kannada, journalism, nutrition and health education, information science and computer application. Certification courses in Kannada panchayat raj, nutrition and food for July 2019 cycle. Students can obtain the required information on www.ksoumysore.kar.gov.in.
The VC also maintained that over 95,000 students whose results of various degrees have been withheld by the KSOU due to derecognition of courses by UGC, can expect for some positive news in two months time.
