The victim, Manju Parmar, 24, stated in her FIR filed with Chandkheda police that she belongs to Kharadiwala Dabachiya village of Kherwada taluka in Udaipur district of Rajasthan. At her village, she was in relationship with a man, Keshavlal Bodat. Later, she stopped talking with him and shifted to her sister’s place in Chandkheda two years ago where she began earning as daily wager.
At a construction site where Parmar was working, one of Keshavlal’s fried, Dinesh, was also working as a labourer. Dinesh told Keshavlal that Parmar was in Chandkheda area of the city, after which he also reached there last week, said the FIR. “On April 12, when she was returning after addressing nature’s call, Keshavlal suddenly appeared there and held her. Confronting him, she told him that she did not want any relationship with him. Listening to this, Keshavlal became furious and bit her nose, leaving her severely injured,” said the FIR. As she cried for help and other labourers rushed there, Keshavlal fled from the spot. She was later rushed to a private hospital and later filed an FIR with Chandkheda police against Keshavlal for causing grievous injury.
