Externed goon in Tik Tok video in police van surrenders | Nagpur News

NAGPUR: Days after a Tik Tok video of an externed goon, alighting from a police van with dialogues in the background, went viral on social media, the accused finally gave in to police pressure and surrendered on Wednesday morning. Mobin Ahmed, 30, had made the video along with an accomplice in a police van standing outside Katol police station.
In one of the three videos that went viral on social media, Ahmed is seen getting out of a police van with a dialogue in the background saying, “Itna bada gangster tha? Gang leke ane wale hote hai gangster… wo akela ata tha …. Monster… hahaha (Was he such a big gangster? A gangster brings gang members with him.. he used to come alone… Monster… hahaha).”
Soon after the video went viral several questions were raised about the police department giving a long rope to criminals, so much so that one of them made a Tik Tok video in a police van.
The police department set up an inquiry and started looking for the accused, who had been externed in April for his role in several criminal activities. However, Ahmed, who is the leader of infamous Chama Gang, was evading police arrest.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Zonal DCP Harrsh Poddar claimed that the arrest of Ahmed was essential as the video of a goon inside a police van gave wrong message to the youth. “We were in contact with Ahmed’s family and continuously keeping an eye on him, so finally he succumbed to our pressure and surrendered,” said Poddar.
Poddar also claimed that the video was made months before the accused was externed from the city limits. Ironically, when Ahmed had made the video, which the police claim was on February 4, 2019, he was already wanted in two attempt to murder cases in Yavatmal district.
Replying to a question on criminals no longer fearing cops, Poddar said, “In the 21st century, we don’t want to use force on criminals, and rather follow the law. We can only catch the criminals when they break laws.”
It is learnt that till now Ahmed was hiding in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Ahmed is a bovine smuggler, who bring animals from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for slaughter in Maharashtra. He was externed by police in 2013 and also booked under MPDA. However, Ahmed continued to indulge in criminal activities.
