Cases filed against Naveen Patnaik opponent | Bhubaneswar News

BERHAMPUR: Police registered two cases against Pitambar Acharya, the BJP candidate in the Hinjili assembly constituency in Ganjam district, for allegedly abusing BJD workers and making his supporters threaten them with violence. Hinjili will vote on Thursday.

Acharya, a senior advocate, is contesting against chief minister Naveen Patnaik. While one case has been registered against Acharya for abusing one Krushna Sethi at Kulagada under Dharakote police station limits, the second was registered against him with Sheragada police station for abusing and threatening BJD supporters in Solashola village. “Our investigation is on,” said SDPO (Aska) Suryamani Pradhan. Acharya refuted the allegations. “I don’t know the complainants. They may have lodged complaints at the behest of Naveen Patnaik,” said Acharya.
