BENGALURU: A 24-year-old woman, who had sought shelter at a friend’s house near Peenya, was allegedly raped by the latter’s husband.

The incident, which had happened on December 15, came to light only two days ago after the survivor lodged a complaint with Rajagopalnagar police.

The survivor, who is from Kunigal taluk in Tumakuru, had come to the city to withdraw money from a private chit fund where she had invested. Since it was late in the night and she did not want to travel, she chose to sleep at her friend Komala’s house in Rajagopalnagar.

The next morning Komala left for work at 6:30am. The Kunigal woman was getting ready to leave when Komala’s husband., Nanjappa, sexually assaulted her. He threatened to kill her if she spoke about the incident to anyone.

However, the woman later approached police after learning that she had become pregnant.

Pourakarmika raped by BBMP supervisor

A 24-year-old pourakarmika, who worked as sweeper, was allegedly raped by her supervisor, said KG Halli police.

The woman accused BBMP supervisor Ashok of having called her to his room on the pretext of cleaning it and raping her.

Following this, he used to call and ask her to spend time with him. The accused threatened to harm the woman’s husband, if she refused to cooperate. However, she informed her husband and filed a complaint with police on March 9.

Police said they have registered a rape case and are making efforts to nab the accused.
