Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) authorities pointed out that 23% of the total 55,000 passengers departing from the airport daily travel with just their hand baggage. “This dedicated gate promises to reduce waiting time at security checkpoints,” said BIAL officials.
“This is an innovative service to provide passengers a hassle-free and delightful travel experience. The opening of a new gate, exclusively for passengers travelling with hand baggage, will further improve the overall operational efficiency of the airport,” the officials added.
No trolleys, wheelchairs
Trolleys and wheelchairs cannot pass through the express entry. The move was welcomed by several frequent flyers who have in the past complained of long queues at security checkpoints.
