There are around 1 lakh licensed weapons in Harayan and 86,650 weapons has been deposited with concerned police station of state so far.
A public relation officer in Haryana police said that since the model code of conduct came into the force, 321 illegal arms had been seized so far across the state. He added that apart from it, 530 live cartridge and 98 explosive had also been seized.
Taking a serious note those who have not deposited their weapon police have cancelled five arms licence so far, he added. Police have issued 8,975 non-bailable warrant to the accused involved in different cases in Harayna since elections were announced. More than 80% people have deposited licensed arms with police stations.
Talking to TOI, deputy supritendent of police (DSP) Pushpa Khatri said that there are around 8,681 arms licence in the district and of these 8,015 have been deposited with different local police station, while 166 are exempt. As many as 500 have failed to deposit their weapon and action for recommendation of licence cancellataion has been intitiated against them, she added.
